Interview with R.E Weber

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Bringing life to characters and worlds that have only previously existed in your mind. Allowing them to shape themselves on the page and then share that with readers.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans are everything. Without fans, nobody sees your work. Getting a positive response from your readers is the greatest reward any writer can receive.
Who are your favorite authors?
Arthur C Clarke, Stephen Baxter, Greg Bear, James Herbert, Gregory Benford
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on the 3rd book in the series, entitled 'The Tacitan Legacy'. The title will make more sense if you have read book 2 in the series. Thanks
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Various means. Sometimes I see a book I like on a mailing list, other times just by browsing eBook sellers websites. Sometime I might even see a book mentioned on social media which piques my interest.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
'The Time Ships' by Stephen Baxter. It is the authorized sequel to the Time Machine, which stays true to the spirit of the original, whilst incorporating modern science. Brilliantly imaginative.
'Time' by Stephen Baxter - Quite simply it contains the single best time jump sequences I have ever read.
'2010' by Arthur C Clarke - Complex, deep and full of imagination, it is a rare sequel that is better than the original.
'The Secret of Crickley Hall' - A textbook horror story and probably one of the most gripping books I have ever read.
'Harry Potter and the Prisoner or Azkaban' - The best Harry Potter novel by far, lean, fast moving, imaginative and surprising.
What is your writing process?
I just write a very rough outline and then get cracking, filling in the spaces. Sometimes this works and the words flow, other times it doesn't and I have to go back to the drawing board. Either way, it is still the best method for me.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Describe your desk
Small and cluttered, but functional. It has a 19 inch monitor, with a document holder on the left and a calendar on the right.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It has allowed me to reach more readers on a variety of different e reader devices. Also it gives you far more flexibility than its competitors, allowing you to set any price for as long as you want (even free) without any exclusivity agreements.
When did you first start writing?
In 2007. I have published 2 books in that time and I am working on the 3rd.
Published 2016-02-15.
