Interview with Ralph J. Monroe III

What motivated you to become an indie author?
I never thought that I would be a writer of any sorts. It's actually quite interesting learning the talents that God has given you and the gifts He's placed in you. I didn't know words meant so much to me until I realized how much they affected me. The more I read the Bible the more I seen how words could be used to express how we feel toward God, our loved ones, or any situation in life. The more I read the more I wrote how I felt. Then along life there are heart burdens that we have and the desire to be the change springs up in your heart. I come to realize that books can shape a generation and help bring about change. So all of those things combined motivated me to become an indie author.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Being able to process what I'm feeling internally.
What are you working on next?
Only God knows =)
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Christ Jesus and my loved ones.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I definitely spend time with the Lord, play my guitar, talk to my loved ones, but as a campus missionary I'm always on campus engaging with college students, at small group Bible studies, and anything else that deals with being a campus missionary.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I search for a particular category and then I browse to see which one peaks my interest.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Something about a Christmas tree when I was very young. We had to write a short story in elementary class.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
First off would be the Bible hands down because everything that pertains to life is in there and it's inspired by God!
Secondly would be the Giver because I remember that is the first book I read even before the Bible that I could not put down.
Third would be the Heavenly Man because it just grows your faith! It really get you to reflect on how you are living as a Christian.
Fourth is The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence because you learn that even in the routine day of life you can commune with the LORD. The LORD's presence isn't just confined to a building on Sunday. He's everywhere.
Lastly would be any other book that I've read hahaha.
What do you read for pleasure?
Christian literature and now I'm embarking into reading more about history.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My smartphone.
