The desk I usually work at is L-shaped, with two computer monitors, and a PC tower on it. There's a small color printer/scanner off to my right. To my left are three plastic shelves, crammed with papers, an old coffee mug overflowing with pens, a cordless phone, and a large crystal stone I found in Alert, near the North Pole (I use it as a paperweight to keep several file folders upright). Close to my elbow is an empty coffee cup I just finished drinking.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
My childhood was split between living in British Columbia, and Ontario, Canada. In both places I had a love for the outdoors, and would spend hours exploring, and having adventures with friends in the wilds. I drew upon these childhood experiences while writing my children's action/adventure novel, Lost Ark Found. Influences of this can be seen in Dance With Me, as well, though this book was geared more toward adult readers.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing short stories in grade eight. They were so interesting to my classmates that, sometimes the teachers would cut short their lessons so I could read them to the whole class. In high school I wrote longer stories, approaching novella length.
