Interview with Ronnie Viscarro

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When I'm not writing I enjoy reading historical novels, reading books on travel, and planning my next trip to Europe! I also enjoy dinner out with family and friends. It seems when we get together we always find ourselves laughing and having fun! That is what's important!
What is your writing process?
I have been very fortunate to have traveled as much as I have over the years. My writing process is reflective of that time and know-how. I considered those experiences to be invaluable and wanted to share with everyone how I was able to accomplish it so that they might do it too. My recommendation to anyone seeking to write is to write what you know and love.
How do you approach cover design?
For the book cover design I focus on the overall message of the book. One I have the intent of the book I consider how to convey that and what inventory of photographs I have that speak to that same message. I like to use my own photographs as I'm an amateur photographer. And I also use Photoshop to help create my intent.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Sister Fidelma series of books by Peter Tremayne on ancient Ireland. These mystery books reference the true historical culture, the legal system, and the equal rights for women that existed. I enjoy the historical facts woven into a fictional story.

Angels and Demons/The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Again, love the historical facts within a fictional story line. Also, from a personal perspective, I can relate to the specific sites mentioned in these books as I have traveled to many of these sites in Rome. I understand there are now tours based on the sites in the book.....another reason to go back to Rome!

The Cat Who series of books by Lilian Jackson Braun. I love these whimsical mystery books that tell the story of a journalist with 2 Siamese cats....and all the crazy things these cats do! I used to have cats so am familiar with some of the antics they pull. When you are looking for a light and fun read, pick up one of these books!

Harry Potter book series by J.K. Rowling. What creativity!!! I love that about this author. She truly worked "outside the box" of conventional thinking to create fun and entertaining books. This is why I love to use my brain and create the pictures in my mind!
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I like to use a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. Anything smaller for me is just a wee bit small. If you are over the age of 40 you will understand this.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book is all about how to travel to Europe on a $2,000 budget. Twenty years ago my income was much smaller than it is today so going on a budget was truly the only it was ever going to happen! Once I started traveling, I was bitten by the "travel bug" as they say. Now that I was hooked I knew that I could keep going if I kept it simple and on a budget. And so I did. Even today I keep to this "rule of thumb" methodology. I am truly blessed to have been able travel so much. It has opened my eyes to new cultures, foods, languages, and history. I hope every reader will be able to use this book to travel and have similar wonderful experiences!!
What are you working on next?
Coming next is a series of additional Journey To books with the same philosophy of 10 days and $2,000. In the first book I showed you how to travel to Europe and provided sample itineraries. The next series of books takes each itinerary individually and tells you how to do a 10 day/$2,000 trip on those cities. For example, coming soon is a book on Dublin, Ireland with a few day trips including several driving trip options. Also coming soon are: Paris, Rome, Athens, and London. Beyond that, I'll be releasing the multi-city itinerary books such as Venice/Florence/Rome and Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris. I'm open to readers letting me know what they want to see next! Feel free to let me know!
