How do you approach cover design?

I gave some general ideas to the designer and they came up with the image.

What are your five favorite books, and why?

I have always loved Tennessee Williams and William Faulkner. I suppose I've always had a penchant for the deep South. In my novels you may see a bit of this in the dialect of the characters.
