Interview with HK Masara

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing gives me a sense of home; that fulfilling and completing feeling that you are where you are, doing exactly what you want to be doing with your talents. Writing provides a portal into the hidden depths of my curious and imaginative mind, bringing to life the idle thoughts that lay dormant there. Writing is home for me.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans mean everything because it is for them I write. If it were not the case I would not have any need to write, would I? Fans are my supporters, my critics and without them I can not grow as an author.
What are you working on next?
A crime/ thriller novel.
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite authors of all time have to be Neville Shute, Charles Dickens, Gilbert Morris, Jane Austen and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life, the possibility of new adventures and experiences brought forth by a new day different from yesterday and tomorrow.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I am a keen reader, and watch a lot of television. I just love voluntary work and from time to time find myself devoting my free time to the SPCA, being an advocate for the prevention of cruelty and mistreatment of animals.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I discover ebooks by the genre I intend of reading.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, I do. It is kind of funny that when I read it and compare it with my recent works, I realize how much I have grown and improved as a writer. I still hold it dear, it got me some of my very first fans- my high school dorm-mates.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read everything from the newspaper, magazines, novels to even pieces of paper I see lying around, because I believe there should not be a restriction to the amount of words or things a writer should read.
