I like for the cover to illustrate certain key aspects to my work.The cover should offer a bit of intrigue and mystery to draw the reader in and create interest.

I started writing poetry and songs when I was 11 years old.My fourth grade teacher really encouraged me to pursue a career in the arts,and I acted in several regional plays.I began to write short stories in my teens and gradually honed my craft.I was also a singer/songwriter and played in numerous bands.I used to say that a song is like a tiny book,condensed into 3 or 4 minutes.Not easy to do!

"HITS" is the story of an aspiring songwriter named Warren Harris, who works in the family funeral home,but dreams of making it big in country music.His father is adamant about him taking over the family business,but Warren will have none of it.He becomes romantically involved with Miss Lily,who works in the local diner.Warren becomes involved in his father's plan to have him perform two mob type hits on a couple of low lifes.One of the two,Floyd Russell,turns out to be a big time music publisher.Warren black mails Floyd with photos he and Miss Lily took at Lake Williburton,where his father owns a lake side cabin.The photos of Floyd and his kinky mistress turn into Warren's big break as he threatens Floyd's reputation.Things start to completely unravel in this page turner,as one ridiculous thing after the other occurs.I had this story for quite awhile,and I'm excited to share it's lunacy with you,the reader!

I usually do an outline of my story in segments.I like to give my characters some color and flesh out their characteristics somewhat.Once I have decided my main characters,I then work in my minimal characters.From there,I have a concrete beginning of the action.

I read a lot of history period pieces.I love to read Stephen King.And the newspapers.You'd be surprised how many great book ideas I get from articles.Real life is fascinating!
