Interview with Sal Cunningham

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first meaningful book I read was Muhammed Ali: The Greatest, a biography, which provided an insight into the world of a great sports personalty and individual.
The first fiction novel I read was Jig by Campbell Amrstrong, I had read many books previous to this but it was always under duress, with this book I couldn't put it down!
How do you approach cover design?
By trying to visualise the total story in a series of symbols or images I think my first ebook cover conveys the key themes covered in the story and by the wider series
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I enjoy autobiographies and biographies becuase they provide rationale to actions
What is your e-reading device of choice?
i-pad
Describe your desk
I like to keep things simple so my desk is a plain rectangular dark wooden desk with drawers on both sides
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Middlesbrough, Teesside, UK. This environment shaped my view or the world in a very uncoventional way because if I had been born 5 years early i would have witnessed the boom years of the town instead ot its decline
When did you first start writing?
about 7 years old
tried to get serious in my late teens
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story follows an unsuspecting hero who finds himself drawn into battle against the illuminati establishment who utlise witchcraft and non human entities to achieve their goals. The book allows the reader to gain a view of UK life from the streets all the way to the Royal Palaces, it is an emotional rollercoaster with a very unsual ending. The main figure is a sophisticated criminal who upsets the ruling elite with his daring endeavours and the adventure begins from there
What motivated you to become an indie author?
reading online
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
visualising the main people in the story and provide the detail that will enable the reader to have a similair visual experience
