Interview with James D. Patterson

What's the story behind your latest book?
I hate having my time wasted. In today's world, we are being bombarded by salespeople in stores, on the telephone, by mail and on the internet pushing their products or services without ever asking if we are interested in learning about what they have to offer. It is irritating. A few good questions by these salespeople would save my time AND THEIRS. If only they knew the power of good questions and how to best use them, we would all be better off. My book aims to help salespeople get better results from their sales efforts and at the same time save them and their prospects precious time.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Time. I can publish an ebook almost instantly after it is written. I chose not to go through the long process of getting published in print. In addition, if my book is successful a print publisher might want to publish it.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has made it simple and economically feasible to get my book to the public quickly. I like the way they keep me posted on how many people look at my book and how many choose to purchase it.
