Interview with Sheila Myers-Bradfield

What do you read for pleasure?
horror, fiction, erotica
When did you first start writing?
1990
What motivated you to become an indie author?
not What but Whom... my former English teacher and friend, Raymond Markley.
What are you working on next?
Rather than writing my typical erotica short stories, I am currently working on a inspirational co-authored book on my 14 year relationship with my fiance'.
Who are your favorite authors?
No specific order... Edgar Allan Poe, Stephen King, Anne Rice, Fred Saberhagen (vampire series NOT berserker series), J.K. Rowlings, Kelley Grealis, Suren Fant, Raymond Markley, Gary Smalley.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I like to lose myself from reality by emersion into a book, movie, tv series, music, drawing, or even tattooing.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
goodreads.com, smashwords.com, amazon.com
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
yes... I can no longer recall the title, but I remember it was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's "Masque of the Red Death," a ghost story I wrote because I had lost my best friend, not by death but due to a breakup.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Stephen King's, Rose Madder; J.K. Rowling's, Harry Potter series; Anne Rice's: The Witching Hour series; Fred Saberhagen's vampire series, Kelley Grealis' Descendent series. Why? Stephen King's book Rose Madder is about women empowerment. I read it during a time in my life where I felt I needed to stand up for myself more rather allowing people to control my life. J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series touched my heart when I grew up depressed and felt like an outsider, always misunderstood, and needed to find my own path in life. Fred Saberhagen's vampire series and Anne Rice's witch series: they are similar writing styles, I read Saberhagen's vampire series and had to have more fantasy like this and was unable to find what I was searching for until I came across Anne Rice's witch series. I tried reading her vampire series first but struggled with reading them until after I had seen the movies. With Kelley Grealis's Descendent series, she expresses vampire lore in a new way, I truly enjoy her style of vampire books more than the Twilight series and others at this time. I look forward to finding new favorites with every author. I just discovered a few authors I love reading from going through their first novels in the series I got wrapped up in and they would are J.L. Bryan and the Paranormals series, A.R. Wise and his 314 series, and Mike Wells' Baby Talk.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
