Interview with Sarah Jayne Nantais

What are you working on next?
The new story I am working on is called "TAK" which stands for "Three Abandoned Kingdoms". It follows the interactions of two men and their adventure all across the world of TAK.
It's an energetic story with plenty of magic, swords and subterfuge. I've got a few short stories from that world currently published on my personal blog over at
Who are your favorite authors?
My favourite authors are: Timothy Findley, Neil Gaiman, Victor Hugo and Guy Gavriel Kay
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
With my two sons taking up a lot of my time I try to read manga, play video games or sleep when I have this mythical free time I hear so much about!
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I usually search by genre. It has to have a great cover and pitch to attract my attention
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I certainly do. While I have lost the hard copy due to various circumstances, I still remember the general idea and I hope to rewrite it again in the future. It involved vampires, that much I'm certain of!
What is your writing process?
I usually have to be in a quiet room with no distractions. That's a bit hard at the moment with two small children! I also need some sort of sound. Silence is devastating to me, so I usually play some instrumental or Japanese pop music.
How do you approach cover design?
My husband helped me design the cover for Black & Red, my first book. I wanted something simple, yet eye-catching, without giving away too much of the story.
