Interview with Savannah Smith

When did you first start writing?
I've been writing for as long as I can remember. I probably started in middle school, if not earlier.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Anticipation was my 2003 NaNoWriMo Project. I finished it in 2009, I think. Once I finished it, I edited, edited, edited until I finally had to stop myself and just publish it or lose my nerve.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I've always been an "indie author". I'm certainly not mainstream!
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords' contribution to my success has been priceless. It's the only place I'll ever publish a book until and unless a printer finds me at random.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Getting the story out of my head. Characters tell me the story they have and I just type it out. Being able to give them that outlet is really the reason I even attempt it.
What do your fans mean to you?
To the writer in me, they mean everything. Without them, I'd have no one to tell the stories to!
What are you working on next?
My next project is another love story with a twist. This time the twist is not who the main characters are... it's how many of them there are!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My little girl (an orange tabby cat named Miss Thang) and my fiance.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading. Every writer has to read. And if I'm not doing either of those, I'm likely watching TV.
What is your writing process?
Music. Procrastination. More music. Hesitation. Different music. Edit the last thing I wrote. Procrastinate. Update website. Change music. Write....or watch TV.

Lissa Norman and Julie Whitney have the same first love: basketball. Together, they might be each other's second love...if politics don't get in between them. As an assistant coach, Lissa knows she should leave the freshman guard alone. But there's something about "Whit" that catches her eye. When they realize there's an attraction, will they give it a chance, or sacrifice it for their first love?
