Interview with Scott Wallace

What are you working on next?
I am working on a new self-help e-book on how to lose weight! In conjunction with quitting smoking, a pleasant after-effect was that I actually lost weight! I started to breathe easier and started to hit the elliptical. I started to shed the pounds, slowly but surely until I had lost an incredible 70 pounds!
Who are your favorite authors?
Funny enough I do not have any favorite authors. You may catch me reading the shampoo bottle in the bathroom, but I do not read at all. I am too busy with my two jobs and my family.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My Daughter. She just turned one and she is the light of our universe. She inspires me to be a better person.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love nature, campfires, hockey and golf. I also play drums and like to cook gourmet foods and entertain!
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I am new to the whole e-book thing. After completing my very first e-book, I am curious as to what is out there and will probably buy a few books.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
This is it!
What is your writing process?
Just drawing from my experiences and putting them down on paper as plain as I can. I like to be straight forward and get to the point.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I can honestly say that I have ever only read one book (Hannibal) and never really read anymore. I did however just pre-ordered the new book by Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip and I am looking forward to that one.
How do you approach cover design?
I look for something that conveys what I wrote. For my first book I was looking for nature and trees. Trees invoke the ability to breathe as they produce oxygen. Being out in nature and taking a deep breath of fresh air without hacking your lungs out. That is what I was going for.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Still need to discover this one!
What do you read for pleasure?
Nothing! I am too busy spending time with my family and I wouldn't have it any other way!
What is your e-reading device of choice?
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
We will see!

Three screens and constant work
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Northern Ontario. Lots of smokers up here! Hahaha
When did you first start writing?
Just now!
What's the story behind your latest book?
I was a huge smoker and tried to quit many times. Like I said before...If I can do it...You can do it!
