Interview with Stacie Wyatt

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Texas. I was born in Houston, but raised in Conroe. I am not sure how growing up in Texas affected my writing. A teacher influenced my writing. I enjoyed the writing prompts she gave us. One problem was at the time, I was reading about racism and prejudice, so that is what I wrote about. She thought I had experienced those issues, but I didn't think I did at that time.
When did you first start writing?
around Junior High. 7th/8th grade. 14 years old. I started writing poetry
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I enjoy expressing my feelings, emotions, and real-life experiences.
What are you working on next?

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
What is your writing process?
I have none. When I get inspired, I write. I carry a notepad everywhere I Go. Not to mention the phone and the kindle.
How do you approach cover design?
I did my own covers except with Chocolate Kisses. I did go on other sites and tried to find a cover designer, but their prices was too high. I understand the importance of a good cover, but I'm a stay at home mom, blogger, with a fixed income. Some of the prices quoted was higher than my monthly income. I still would like professional covers on all my books. Maybe I can barter or do a review on the company, but I can't afford to pay too much (unless I am doing a payment plan). I also had issues where people did not like my ideas for my covers and did not want to design them. For example, for Love.Lust,Life, I wanted a female nude version of the vitruvian man, with arms outstretched. instead of the math and science symbols and stuff in the background, I wanted my titles of the poetry in the book. No one wanted to touch a nude cover. I wanted it in pencil or ink or even paint (used to be in graphic design school). One person even suggested I get naked for the cover. That's a negative. So, I designed all the covers myself using Amazon and Lulu's cover creator or designing the covers in Paint or Publisher.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
