Interview with Sharon Kleve

What does your desk look like?
My desk sits in a nook, overlooking my front yard. There are several bird feeders, a fountain and water dishes available for the critters to come visit. My cat Ardy sits on the windowsill and chatters at the birds.

I keep a pair of my husband's reading glasses on my desk so when I say, "Why is my screen blue?" He can quickly grab his spare pair and fix my problem in a jiffy.

I keep the postcards and letters from my fans handy as a reminder as to why I'm in this crazy profession.

I usually have a pile of swag lying around; ready to send to a reader who took the time to comment on one of my books.

I always have a stack of edits that I'm working on from my wonderful critique group.

My husband bought me this wonderful frame that says, "Obey the rules? NEVER!" I love it.

Last, but not least, I always keep copies of my paperbacks on my desk to inspire me to keep writing.
Where do you hail from and what do you love most about your hometown?
I'm a true-blue Washington-Ionian. I was born and raised in the Seattle area and moved to the Olympic Peninsula in 1990.

I love the close proximity to the mountains, water and of course a short Ferry ride to Seattle.
Who is your favorite author and why?
My inspiration…Janet Evanovich. Corny Myers form The Corny Myers Series has similarities to Stephanie Plum, but with a psychic twist, she can’t talk to animals.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I love animals and all of my books have animals in them. People are always surprised to hear I only have one cat. They assume I have my own zoo.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I bake sour dough bread and bagels. I exercise everyday and play with my cat and husband. I love gory, spooky movies so my husband buys me DVD's and while I'm baking I watch them.

Driving around in my 1969 red convertible MG, smiling and waving at people. We take her out every chance we get. We've even had her out in the snow. That wasn't the brightest idea, but it was fun.
What do you read for pleasure?
Thrillers, Mysteries and lots, and lots of juicy romance....
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My HP TouchPad
If your fairy godmother waved her wand and whisked you away to the location of your choice, which place would you choose?
Italy. I want to go to wineries, cook and eat lots of stinky cheese.
When it comes to food, are you the adventurous type who will try anything once, or do you prefer to stick to tried and true foods and recipes?
I love to cook and I'm very adventuresome that way. But let me tell you, I'm not putting a snake, snail, or a cute Kangaroo near my lips.
What is the one modern convenience that you cannot do without?
My Kitchen aid mixer. I use it at least twice a week. I couldn't imagine making bread/bagels without it. Now if I could combine my laptop and mixer, I'd be in heaven.
