Interview with Sharon Wheater

What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Social networking has been a great way to introduce my book. I am currently building an on line book store called The Little BIG Book Store which is for Indie writers. I am hoping this will also help in marketing.
Describe your desk
Laptop, diary, cup of coffee, dictionary, my two cats and a couple of books.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up on in Derbyshire, my grandfather had a lot of land and a river flowed through, it influenced me in many ways, i am a country girl and like my peace and quiet. I read and wrote a lot when I wasn't riding my horses. I spent a lot of time on the moors too.
When did you first start writing?
I wrote my first book in 1992 but I never published it, I spent several years in the military and eventually in 2009 I wrote my first book, The Art of Magic Realm of the Castles, I finally fully published int in Nov 2013.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Its the follow on from my first book, its a fantasy series
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I love to write and commercial publishing is far too controlled, they tell you what and when to write and i can force myself to write otherwise it wont be as good.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Holding the book in my hand fully published!!
What do your fans mean to you?
Without them, I wouldn't write. The Art of Magic Realm of the Northern Castle has taken me a year to complete and publish and so many asked when it would be out because they want to know whats going to happen lol, its a great feeling.
What are you working on next?
The Art of Magic Beyond Garnatia, Catch Me if you Con, The Inflight Series and Up the Faerie Glen.
Who are your favorite authors?
Jilly Cooper, Maria V Snyder, J R R Tolkien, I love Jilly but fantasy is my passion.
