Interview with Alyssa Halliwell

What gave you the idea for Dead World Rising?
My love of zombie films, and passion for telling my own story
What is your writing process?
It differs, sometimes I can sit and ideas will just come to me. Other times it takes hours of thinking and talking to my friend to come up with story lines
What are your five favorite books, and why?
My favorite books are and have always been The Wicca Series by Cate Tiernnan. I read them as a teenager and just fell in love with the characters and the story, I even named three of my kids after the characters
What do you read for pleasure?
I read horror, fantasy and supernatural books
When did you first start writing?
I started writing at 13, mostly just poems. I did have a couple published when I was younger, but as I reached my mid twenties, I found a love for story telling
What's the story behind your latest book?
It's about the zombie apocalypse in Tameside, Greater Manchester. The series once finished will span 30 years, but its more than just your normal zombie book, there are many unexpected twists and turns, that will leave you wanting more
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I love to write and tell stories, and just want other people to see my creations
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Getting emotionally indexed in the characters, I'm not embarrassed to say, I even make myself cry when I'm writing emotional scenes
What are you working on next?
I'm still working the Dead World Rising series, I'm currently working on book 3 out of 6
Who are your favorite authors?
Cate Tiernnan and Yasmine Galenorn
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Watching zombie films and tv shows, for research
