Interview with K. B. Knight

What is your e-reading device of choice?
I have tried loads of different ways of reading an ebook. I used to own a Sony PRS-500 but it has now died so I am using a Kobo.
Describe your desk
Organised chaos!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a 'new' town. Lots of concrete and cookie cutter council estate houses. It helped me get into escaping through fiction, mainly sci-fi. I guess it has lead me into writing for that escape from the real world for a little while.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have always loved writing short stories, most about nothing in particular. Now I have written about something and had strangers say it was a good read, its spurred me on to write more.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Seeing characters develop and grow over time, given the circumstances that they have to deal with.
What are you working on next?
The story to follow my first short story. This is planned to be longer and more involved following the lead character as he makes his way in the galaxy.
Who are your favorite authors?
Randolph Lalonde, Jonathan Moeller, Maria V. Snyder to name a few!
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Not in detail, I do remember showing it to my teacher who said it started well, got to the climax and then just stopped! I hope I have learnt from that experience to give more satisfying endings.
What is your writing process?
I guess I like to think about the overall outline of the story then writing down the major points I want to make in it. From there slowly develop the rest of the writing.
What do you read for pleasure?
I love reading science fiction (obviously!) but I do like a bit of fantasy, recently getting into the Ghost series by Jonathan Moeller and the Chronicles of Ixia by Maria V. Snyder
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Mostly reading user reviews on books. They, for me, give much more insight - although you have to learn to sort the wheat from the chaff sometimes.
