Interview with Sondra Hicks

What do your fans mean to you?
they are the base of why we are successful and without them we will never succeed. I listen to them and what they want. Like right now my Hispanic readers are asking for my books in Spanish so I am doing everything I can do to give that to them. fans/readers are the reason we tell our stories because we want to share. So my fans mean the world to me.
When did you first start writing?
My teen years is when I really started writing poetry and then later a few short stories
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Believe it or not it was "One Vampires Tale" I started writing it as a teenager with the help of my boyfriend at the time Larry. We would talk for hours on the phone and I would write it all out and he would help out here and there. It was a lot of fun but we never finished the story it was only about 10 pages long. Funny thing is in 2013 I found it as an adult and my friend encouraged me to finish it and publish it so I worked on it for 6-9 months and had her look it over and published in 2014. It was my second book I ever published because my first was a Poetry book.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy is putting all your thoughts, emotions, and your raw essence out there in a story for all to see. You give it everything you have from your imagination if you do fiction like I do. You then watch as people read your story and you wait. Then you hear the positive feedback and your heart sings because they love your creation as much as you do, You have made a connection through the written word.
What are you working on next?
I am working on a series called the Kloe & Gavin Adventures I am getting close to releasing the second novel called "London Moon" and I am hoping on writing a new erotic short story here soon.
Who are your favorite authors?
R.L. Stine, Christopher Pike, John Grisham, Anne Rice, E.F. Turner
How do you approach cover design?
open minded but also clear and focused
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I started out being an indie author by paying out of pocket to publish my own book, but realized I could do it for free years later. It's hard to publish good books on limited income. I wanted to share my books so I choose Smashwords and Createspace after a fellow author told me about it and loved how there was no out of pocket expense.
Describe your desk
Okay I just cleaned my desk after what looked like a hurricane came through. I tend to neglect my area until I cant take it any longer and grab a trash bag then get organized because I am so focused on the computer screen I dont pay attention.
