Interview with Lindsey Schussman

When did you first start writing?
Ever since I was a child... I remember being sick and my mom taking me to work... Because she had no one else to watch... I would make picture stories with the supplies provided at her work.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The switchblade Mamma was the second nickname given to me. I always wore two knives. I was the name my boss gave me for carrying them.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I grew up reading comics. Marvel was my life. I wanted a lesbian superhero. And through the Switchblade Mamma, I could make that happen.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
New to this, so we shall see!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Letting my heros come out in life!
What do your fans mean to you?
I would love to have some fans! BRING THEM ON!
What are you working on next?
Book two of the Switchblademamma is complete... Just waiting on that fan base so I can start part three...
Who are your favorite authors?
Nora Roberts was my first... Loved her! Nicholas Evans sent me spiraling as well!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Work... As crappy as it sounds... Trust me, I would rather be waking up to other things, but at the moment, it pays the bills.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Work, photography and of course, karaoke!
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I don't read much these days, for I work too much, but I do try to keep track.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Why emissions suck! My first near death experience in a vehicle I truly loved!
What is your writing process?
Beer... Lots of beer and late nights!
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
It had to have been about the Titanic... A novel about the aftermath...
How do you approach cover design?
Whatever comes to my mind first.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I read them long ago... Somewhat have to do with my favorite authors posted earlier.
What do you read for pleasure?
I honestly dont read much any more... To busy with work.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Let's keep that on the down low!
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Ive got a lot to learn!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up and currently still reside in Tempe, Arizona. I did not have many friends growing up and the ones that I did have, well I kept mostly to myself. I suppose having a lot of time to yourself gets that imagination going quite a bit. It was not until wayyyyy later that I decided my characters needed to come to life.
Describe your desk
For the most part, it is clean... That is until one of my nieces happens to do a coloring or art project on it. Currently, semi messy.
