Interview with Stacey Haga

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing for me has been hearing what people think of my book. With "Love for Two," I always have to ask readers, who would you choose, Jake or Luke? It's a thrill to hear everyone's responses. I'm even keeping track of them!
I love the freedom writing gives me, I literally have the power to shape the story however I want. You just don't get that ability in your own life. It's a very exciting feeling to create something exactly the way you want it to be and to hell with the way the world would ruin it for you!
What are you working on next?
Right now I am working on finishing the Love for Series. After that, I already have an idea for another series involving a "wild child" girl in college who gets wrapped up in a love triangle with two guys who try to straighten her out before she ruins her life. I also have an idea for a stand alone book for an intense romantic suspense novel about a woman who escapes an abusive relationship only to become stalked by her ex-lover while she tries to learn what a real relationship is with a younger man.
Who are your favorite authors?
I grew up reading Stephen King. He will always be my favorite author. I'm also a fan of Dean Koontz, though I've only managed to read a few books, "False Memory" being my favorite. When it comes it romance novels, Sandra Brown is a personal favorite of mine. I also like Nora Flite, Skye Jordan, Annie Jacoby, Olivia Thorne and EL James.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Umm, the alarm clock?
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Shopping, working out and spending time with my husband mostly.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I mostly go for the free books with good reviews in the categories I prefer which are erotica and contemporary romance. It takes a lot for me to dive past the first book in a series. It really has to grab me to make me drop the money and pay for that second and third book. It doesn't happen often!
What do you read for pleasure?
I mostly read erotica for pleasure. Isn't that what pleasure is all about? ;)
Occasionally, I'll pick up something different though. I like to read true crime books. My degree is in Criminology, believe it or not! I also like reading suspense or anything by Stephen King.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My iPad, because I used my Kindle to death. May it rest in peace.
Describe your desk
It's my sectional sofa and my laptop. I like to lounge around while I'm writing, cuddled up under a soft blanket.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was a military brat (I use that term affectionately) and we moved around often even after my dad retired from the Air Force. Then I joined the Air Force myself as an adult. I think it has influence my writing by encouraging me to branch out. "Love for Two" is based primarily in Los Angeles, but I've never been there. I just did the research and I think I did a good job making it seem authentic. The characters also go to other locations throughout the series, which I think is influenced by my travels growing up. I'm not afraid to keep things fluid and I believe it makes for a more interesting story.
