Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes, It was a child's chapter book called Johnny Texas. It was a historical novel about the fight with Mexico over Texas.
How do you approach cover design?
I want a cover to reflect something from within the book. I have read too many books where the hero or heroine is dark hair, but on the cover the woman or man is a blond, so I try to have the cover image match the contents.

Describe your desk
A writing desk with a single drawer, a stack of research binders and three laptop computers.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Oklahoma. I am part Cherokee Indian and Scottish. I think the past history of both the Cherokee and the Scottish people fueled my interest in history.
When did you first start writing?
As a young adult in my early twenties,
What's the story behind your latest book?
For over three hundred years my Scottish clan have been blamed for a massacre, I started researching the event about two years ago when I got back from Scotland, By the time I had delved into my research I realized I had enough information to write a novel, the title came from King William III of Orange when he issued his order of Fire and Sword.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
i have a friend who wrote a non-fiction book. She got a publisher to publish it, but it took almost two years. She said she would never do it again. i saved myself the headache by going indie.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy is to see the characters I have create come to life on the printed page.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans mean a lot to me. It means my stories are connecting with people.
