Interview with Stephen Michael

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
*Smiles... I think my happiest moment as a writer comes in three main stages: the first stage is when I look at the finished work. Oh my God! Nothing feels like being accomplished or feeling like you've finally got this whole load off your heart and mind. I feel great when I see the work I started with sleepless nights, hard work and zeal finally got to an end. Secondly, I feel joy when I see or hear people talk about how my book actually helped or impacted positively on them. As a writer I feel like I have achieved my major objective only when my readers begin to give positive feedback about my book. And finally, I think the joy of writing for me comes when I realize that I have positioned myself out there as an authority and that my works would be speaking for me even while I may no longer be around physically.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are my friends. I try to amuse them and to motivate them as well. I do my best to see that they feel me as they would if I were present. They mean a lot to me.
What are you working on next?
I am currently putting a finishing touch to two other great works- The Enterprising Student and Capital. These two books focus on personal responsibility, business success, and personal success. God... I love what I am seeing in these two books.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have lots of great authors I read their works. I love John Maxwell's books and Brian Tracy's books. I enjoy reading Robert Greene and Anthony Robbins as well.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
WORK. I love to work. I love the concept of work. I love to make progress on daily basis. I love to do something exciting on daily basis.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When I am not writing I am having a great time out with some great minds in a social or entrepreneurial event.
What has being an author done to you?
Hnmmn... Everything. It has made me an addicted learner, a voracious reader, a dedicated student but mots importantly, being a writer has positioned me as an authority in the subjects I handle. As a writer I am constantly looking for ways to improve my communication skills, increase market sales, reach better audience and you know... It has changed my whole schedules. It has taken into places that I would not have ordinarily want to go into.
How do you go about your writing?
First, I think about my prospective audience. Who are they? What do they want to learn? How can I do justice to the subject. Then I start making out a list of my topics. Usually I create three major objectives that I want the book to achieve so my list of topics are created around the three major objectives of the book. Then I start writing non stop. I don't edit or proof read when am still writing because that's a bad writing habit. I just keep writing until am through with my first "poor draft". Then I rework on the poor draft until it becomes a good draft. Then I give the good draft to a few critics and editors to see if we can improve it. That's how I roll about writing.
Who are your role models?
John Maxwell, Myles Munroe and Bishop TD Jakes are my role models.
