Interview with Victoria Moore

When did you first start writing?
I was inspired by my Uncle Simmie when I was very young, I would say around 11 years of age.
What's the story behind your latest book?
It's one of many life experiences, some of my own and those of other PK's. I wanted to write the not so common Preacher's Kid story. We have seen and heard many this one has a bit of a twist not common to the mainstream Christian story telling of ones fall from grace then redemption.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have written for free and have some published articles but I had not written a full story. This first attempt at professional writing gave me a look at the industry from the eyes of a real beginner.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has really allowed me to look at more that writing but producing good business through my published work. I have grown from my experience here.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Getting my creative person a voice.
What do your fans mean to you?
They mean that I get to keep writing. They inspire me daily to continue with my dreams.
What are you working on next?
Blue Fields is part two of Stone Thrower where the characters have grown but some demons remain.
Who are your favorite authors?
Many like Bill Young, Rick Warren, Tyler Perry, to name a few
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Joy for life!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend a lot of time with family and friends. And I really love traveling to see what the world has to offer in cultures.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Friends give recommendations of books they think I might like.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, It was a teenage love story. I was a teen when I wrote it and my characters were privileged Florida residents with great bodies and tans...LOL
What is your writing process?
I take walks and then there is a flow. I sit and just write what comes up whether it makes sense or not.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes, the first story I ever read as a child on my own were bible stories...The David and Goliath type stories. Those gave me a real sense of self and pride. They taught me that I could win!
How do you approach cover design?
I am not a designer so I have solicited the assistance of those whose profession is graphic art.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Bible..Old Testament in particular because of the rich history and suspense filled writing.
The Shack by Bill Young..it spoke to the fallible person I am.
The Chronicles of Narnia...Love the parody of Aslan and the main characters.
Naked and Not Afraid by Juanita Bynum..it is powerful and inspirational.
Single But Not Alone ...as a single person it gave validation to my life.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read action adventure and inspirational self help
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My iPhone
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Online Social Media marketing seems to be the best for me.
Describe your desk
LOL...My desk is anywhere I am.....Starbucks, Library, Park, Beach.......
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Florida and regionally there is much offered here. Lots of color and diversity so I think that has influenced me a bit.
