Interview with Anee Berry

What's the story behind your latest book?
It is the story of how a beautiful young girl that had lived through an abusive childhood, was turned into a needy prostitute, She struggles to survive in this world. She battles low self esteem, a drug and alcohol addiction, depression and overcomes the loss of her mother, children and her childhood as she matures and becomes emotionally aware.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I want to show others how life's struggles can be overcome, in a fun, real life environment.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It has offered me the platform to present my work and voice to the world.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I have worked with people and problems for many years, learnt so many personal life skills and want to share my learning. I love giving and writing gives me that opportunity, it is great fun too.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans, are the best source of teaching. They teach me how real, accurate and how hard hitting the truth can be. If I connect with my readers I know my writing is touching someone's life. I appreciate all feedback, good or bad.
What are you working on next?
I Love to Hate You is a follow up book, it charts the next stage of Samantha's journey. She now has some self worth and is making peace with the gremlins who haunt her,although she will go through many trials and realisations. Its as compulsive as I Hate to Love You.

Torey Hayden, Michael Morpurgo, Dr Phil McGraw,
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life, Every day is a new adventure. Trainers on, even if I am writing. Also I am in a great place in my life at this very moment.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love to travel, cycle, swim, do pilates, aerobics. I love meeting new people and learning about others lives and experiences. I love to offer help, support and where applicable lifeskills. As a counsellor of 10yrs experience, I have a few tools to pull out of my bag!
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Its in a unpublished book called Mad as a box of frogs. It tells of my abused childhood and how others can learn to survive theirs.
What is your writing process?
Every day a couple of hours editing, proof reading. Before I allow myself to go off writing and living inside the story. When my fingers lock with poor circulation. I do aerobics or dancing.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Mandy. A book about an orphaned girl who ran away from a convent, through a blossoming orchard to freedom only a few feet away. But far enough away from the abuse.
How do you approach cover design?
I want it to tell the tale of what is happening within the pages
