Why is bullying such a huge problem, despite all the laws, nothing gets done.
Bullying is everywhere today, but lip service, rubber stamping and buck-passing are even more endemic. So why write a book? Well every day, a student, parent, teacher, friend or associate tells me of bullying, with questions of how to cope. The only answer I could give is to fight back. However the pen is mightier than the sword, never give up and document everything.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing in Grade 5, at Primary School, but I was so shy. I kept my journal squirreled away, as my grade teacher wanted to make me an example of how to make a great writer.
To this day I am still working on that one, but all I know is that writing fascinates me and the creative process; I get to record, understand and scribe it. Thus, my next book is on the creative process of writing a book
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing, for me, is that I am able to convey my knowledge about my experiences throughout my life. I hope that what I write helps those who read it, to understand more about something that they may, first of all, want to know about, and second, to be able to help in overcoming the problems I am writing about. After working with kids as an educator for a number of years in various contexts it seemed a natural progression. While at university I was given an extra job title, while employed at the Sydney Opera House as an advocate to help women in the public sector break through the glass ceiling. While speaking at various meetings, it became abundantly clear to me that we would need to write a women's publication. I had great delight in seeing the name of the title on the cover page of our first edition called "Trust Women".It was an awesome experience, once I started I was hooked. SUSAN
