Interview with Melony Brown

What is your writing process?
I just jump into it. Once I have an idea in my head, I just sit and write. I don't worry about errors will after I am finished. There are so many thoughts in my mind, I have to get them all down.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
One of the first stories I remember is Dracula. I have always loved the dark side of things and reading about vampires probably influenced this.
What do you read for pleasure?
Mostly paranormal and romance. I will read a non-fiction about serial killers every once in a while. Stephen King is also a favorite author. Dean Koontz, too.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I have a Kindle app on my Windows Tablet.
Describe your desk
I have two desks. One is fairly organized, the other is complete chaos. Maybe to me this is balance.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the mountains of North Carolina. There was no cable television. We had a tv with rabbit ears with foil on them to get the two stations (3 on a sunny day) to watch cartoons on Saturday mornings. Mostly, I was outside using my imagination to entertain myself and my younger sister. You have to have a vivid imagination to write, in my opinion.
When did you first start writing?
In high school. I did not have many friends and stayed in my own world in books.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I would never had thought to self-publish until I came across an article about Smashwords. I am so excited to have this opportunity.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The pride in myself. I created something no else in the world ever has. It is completely mine and I came up with it.
What are you working on next?
A horror paranormal novel about three adult siblings who return home to find a run down house on their family's property. A house that is an exact duplicate of the home they live in. Except for the occupants.
Who are your favorite authors?
Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Stephanie Meyer, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Robert Jordan, Terry Brooks
