What do your fans mean to you?
Everything! They are the reason I write.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I work 12 hour shifts in a rural Emergency Room. On my off days when I'm not writing or researching I'm spoiling grand kids. I like to sew, crochet, read other great authors.
What are you working on next?
I am working on the 3rd book in my Victorian Haven House series. Vengeance is Mine Saith Mi'lord. I am also working on a cover for my 2nd Medieval Scottish short story.
Who are your favorite authors?
Francine Rivers, MaryLu Tyndal, Kathleen Morgan, Carole Umberger, Tamara Leigh,
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I am signed up for several newsletters that send out new books available. Book bub is one of them.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I do. It was a steamy harlequin romance that I hid in my cedar chest. LOL It never saw the light of day.
What is your writing process?
I am a bit different from a lot of authors. Because of my work, I do not write every day. On my days off I may write 8-10 hours in a sitting. I usually plot out the story as God gives it to me, then I write character sheets for my MC's. I'll make a list of characters to try to keep me from using the same letters too much in their names. I also try to keep my scenes separated into the chapters they end up in.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I don't remember the name of the first book because I've been reading since grade school. But I remember the first Romance saga my best friend gave me in the 9th grade. I didn't want to read it because it was so thick. She insisted and I stayed up til 3 am reading. That's where my love of Romance really began.
How do you approach cover design?
I use a cover artist and will go to one of the model sites to pick out people that suit my MC's personality. I'll have an idea of what I want and will tell her. She will then put it together and we go back and forth til it's what I want. I used my grand daughter and my daughter-in-law on the cover of Joy to the Earl. That was a lot of fun.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers because it moved me so deeply. It is the book that made me want to write my own stories. 25 years later I can tell you all about it.
The Atonement Child by Francine Rivers because it is about christian people in real life finding healing in Christ.
Kathleen Morgan's Daughter of Joy. Real life again and Christ turning things around
Carole Umberger's Scottish Crown series. Gotta love some Scottish highlanders finding hope and love.
Tamara Leigh's Medieval works she cleaned up. Strong English knights and strong heroines.
What do you read for pleasure?
Inspirational Historical Romance. Anything from English knights to Scottish highlander to Regency to Victorian. Every once in a while I like a Victorian Gothic mystery. I have been known to read about pirates and mermaids and of course Time Travel.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I have a kindle and an I pad and I read on my Mac pc.
