Interview with Jason L Tarlton

What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
If I don't get out of bed, there is a distinct possibility the kids won't make it to school and will be here with ME all day! Kidding! I'm one of those horrible morning people, jump out of bed when the alarm goes off, no snooze. My wife and kiddos inspire and support me in everything I do, so if that's the answer you were fishing for, ...
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I work as a pipeline controller, so I work about 14 days per month, alternating night and day, 12 hour shifts. My wife and I have a band, "The Unsweet Ts", playing blues, classic rock and country all over the Permian Basin of West Texas. We also enjoy camping and hunting. Definitely a busy, fun time!
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I read a lot on iBook and use Kindle app on iPhone
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes! I started blogging some short stories while I was offshore on a seismic ship in the Gulf of Mexico. Funny hunting stories, that helped me get the juices flowing and helped with the decision to start "Apocalypse: Texas style!"
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Stand
Anything by Louis L'Amour
The Foxfire books series
Patriots by Rawles
1632 by Eric Flint
What do you read for pleasure?
Everything ! My reading is eclectic as my music, all over the dang place!
What is your e-reading device of choice?
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I am thinking it is the "customers who looked at this..."
Describe your desk
Desk? Oh! You mean the cluttered area where I park my laptop?
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
On a farm, rural west Texas. If you read "Apocalypse: Texas style!" Then you know that where I grew up sure as heck DID influence my writing!
