Interview with Timothy Bond

Published 2014-12-13.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My head is full of stories from decades of reading fantasy and science fiction, then thinking of interesting places in my mind. I absolutely love to share these stories with people, and of course writing is the best way to accomplish that.
What do your fans mean to you?
What I hope to accomplish with my writing is to generate a fan base for my work that is as excited about the next story as I am, who love the good guys and hate the bad guys like I do!
What are you working on next?
The Triadine Saga is a series, with dozens of books rattling around in my head. The Watcher's Keep is the first book, now published. The Dragon Rises is coming up next, due out in February. It continues the adventures of Peter and Alexandra as they take on all challenges.
Who are your favorite authors?
Tolkien inspired me to read deep into the fantasy genre. Brooks inspired me to actually write. I have very eclectic tastes in books though, and tend to follow an author through all of his writing experiments. Currently loving David Dalglish.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
When I wake up in the morning, I greet each day with a smile and see the glass half full. Life is wonderful, even though we all have our own unique challenges. Face the day with a smile on your face and the world will smile back at you!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I am still a full time engineering manager, so writing is my evening and weekend passion right now. Someday I hope to be able to write full time.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I check out the new independent authors and read their reviews. This is why reviews are so critical to all independent authors. We live and die by YOUR reviews! Tell all your friends about my books :)
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I wrote a short story fantasy when I was in junior high that had elements of world building, emotional interplay between characters, a love story, a bumbling wizard and a changeling. The changeling made it into The Triadine Saga. His name in Ingk.
What is your writing process?
I write one evening, using Storyist either on my Mac or my iPad, then the next I edit. I repeat this during the week, alternating between writing and editing, then try to do at least one marathon session on the weekend. I'm what they call a "pantser" because I write by the seat of my pants. I have outlines, but they don't last long since my characters have minds of their own and I simply write about what they do!
How do you approach cover design?
I have a wonderful cover artist named Jeanine Henning ( I share the store synopsis with her as well as the feeling that I want for the cover. We then work together on the details and iterations until we love the end result. I hope you like my covers as much as I do!
