Interview with Thomas Nast

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest pleasure in writing is the therapeutic value I derive from the creative act.
What do your fans mean to you?
I write for my readers as well as for myself; I keep them in mind at all times.
What are you working on next?
My next book has yet to take shape in my mind, but it is likely going to be similar to my first two books: my observations of people, places, and ideas.
Who are your favorite authors?
Thomas Hardy, Thomas Mann, William Manchester, to name a few.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life—and all that life brings with it: the good, the bad, and the ugly.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I'm retired now so I don't have to work for someone else. I take long walks, listen to music, socialize with friends as well as handling a lot of the boring stuff like cleaning my apartment.
