Interview with Tasha Mayes

What is your e-reading device of choice?
I love reading on Amazon Kindle. I especially love Kindle Unlimited. I have all of my favorite books on my phone for quick and easy access.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I guess so far word of mouth and just using Amazon Kindle Unlimited and letting people know about deals and discounts on my book and ebook.
Describe your desk
My desk wow, I can't believe this but there is always a cup of coffee, or salad it depends on the time of day. I also have a dry erase board. I always, always run out of paper and pens. I have tons of books and cd's within reach and about 2 computers/laptops within my reach as well.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grow up in Ohio so since there is not much to do in Ohio during the winter season, but wrap up in a favorite comfy blanket and chair. I would read, or write.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing when I was 5 years old, it was a book about a hamster. I never published it I just created a story and drew the pictures. Last year was the year for my first book becoming self-published and it was a learning experience, which I am still learning!
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story is about a relationship and the transformation of the characters within that relationship. The story stems from some real life aspects of my life.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
What motivated me? Well I just hoped that my story would inspire, influence or help someone. Clearly I couldn't have experienced those issues all by myself, and I wanted my audience to know that they were not alone, that that there are other people who are going through relational issues that I had experience and I just wanted to be a voice for them.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success? allowed me to publish on another channel to get my ebook and book out. I also like the marketing tips that they have on there site.
What are you working on next?
Well I don't know yet, the sky is the limit and I just have to find time.
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite authors are Melody Beattie, The bible, James Dobson, and Bill Eddy
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My kids do.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When I am not writing I am spending time with my kids, and also working as a web developer.
