Interview with Terrance Huiskens

How do you approach cover design?
Usually, I have my wife do it for me. She is a graphic artist and photographer so I never thought doing it myself made much sense.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Samsung Galaxy Tab3. But I would much rather hold the book in my hands. There is a certain romance to the feel and smell of a real book that you can't duplicate.
Describe your desk
I have no desk. I do all my writing on a laptop. I sit on the couch, the bed, and sometimes at the kitchen table.
When did you first start writing?
I dabbled a bit as a teenager. And at the time I thought it was the greatest writing since Hemingway. Looking back, I'm embarassed. It was some of the worst writing ever!
What's the story behind your latest book?
I've always enjoyed science and my book is what I call useful science. It's information that can benefit people.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The finished product. The process, however, is hardly a joy; it's torture.
What are you working on next?
A political book. I enjoy politics as much as anything.
Who are your favorite authors?
Truman Capote, Ernest Hemingway, and William F. Buckley Jr.
