Interview with Terran D. Jackson

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I go for long walks or get in a session at the gym. I communicate with my readers via email and fb.
What is your writing process?
I like to write in the evening when it's most quiet. I spend my day running errand and taking long walks. I jot down different ideas for a story during the day and in the evening I put it all together.
How do you approach cover design?
I want my cover to connect with the story and overall message of the book without giving away too much.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Social media by far has been very effective for me.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in government housing projects, rough neighborhoods. This experience greatly influenced my first novel, Wisdom While Walking.
When did you first start writing?
I've been writing for as long as I can remember. I've always written poetry and short stories.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Wisdom While Walking is a memoir. It is a story of hope, faith, determination, triumph over tragedy.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I've always felt like I had a story or two to tell. Traditional publishing wasn't an option and being an indie author is made so easy these days.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It offers a variety of ebook formats and it's like a one-stop-shopping for readers.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My greatest joy is when strangers thank me for my story. It is a joy to touch the life of a stranger.
