When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I like hanging out with the wife and kid or watching a movie by myself.

For pleasure, I like to peruse the Flipboard app on my phone for news and cool new gadgets.

What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Word of mouth. Always and forever.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
A saturated market and several rejection emails.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The words get out of my head and I don't have to think about them anymore. If anyone asks my opinion or thoughts on something I've written, I tell them to buy the book so at least get a penny for my thoughts.

I like my writing to be simple and fun. I approach cover design the exact same way. Everyone should be able to understand what they're looking at.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Dillon, South Carolina. Honestly, I'd have to say the people there influenced me way more than the place.

5...Like most American children.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
They've made the transition from print to digital in the book industry much simpler and more affordable by allowing readers to enjoy digital copies of my work instantly and inexpensively as opposed to printed copies.
