Interview with Rick Wallace Ph.D, Psy.D.

Published 2013-09-02.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the inner city in Houston, TX. That inner city environment had a great impact on my passion to write on social and philosophical issues. The secular paradigms that are rampant in the inner city are diametrically opposed to the Christian views that were established in the home in which I was reared.

I was precocious as a child, which led to a great deal of anatomizing the plight of the people in my periphery. It would be this type of analytic thinking conjoined with teachers that pushed be to achieve; that leading to the culmination of publishing countless articles and four books to this point.
When did you first start writing?
I have been writing in creative format as long as I can remember. As far as formal writing, my first published article was in high school. My first nationally published article "The Invisible Father" was in high school as well. That topic led to my first published book bearing the same name.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I have been married twice and both times I ended up filing for divorce; for different reasons. Marriage means a great deal to me and I needed to find answers to where I went wrong. I knew that I wanted to be married again, so I committed to understanding God's design for marriage. "When Your House is Not a Home" is the fourth book I've published, but I was researching this book before I every wrote the first one.

I am extremely excited about the potential that this book has to impact the lives of many believers who are struggling in their marriages.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing for me is having the ability to express myself freely, while knowing that it will have a positive impact on the lives of others.
What do your fans mean to you?
The term "fan" still makes me feel uncomfortable. I view those who read my books as fellow believers, or potential believers, and I am simply the conduit through which God is providing their blessing. To answer the question; each and everyone of them are priceless. They add so much value to my work.
What are you working on next?
I am exciting about my next project. There is so much going on with a number of ministerial and business endeavors that it will be a challenge; however, I am currently working on my next book entitled "Mastering Manhood: A Biblical Manifesto. This book addresses God's design for the male of the human species and the purpose that is inextricably bound to that design.

The objective of this book will be to illuminate the purpose of Christian men as well as to facilitate the transformation process, as men began to walk into their destiny.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have so many authors that have influenced and inspired me, such as Dr. James P. Gills, Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, Gary Thomas and R.B. Thieme Jr., just to name a few.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
That is simple: A passion to serve.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Mainly through Google searches while I am conducting research for my writing.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The story of the Creation & the Fall of Man (Genesis chapters 1-3). I was extremely young and it shaped the course of my life drastically. I still teach from those passages quite often. In fact, a considerable portion of my next book, will come from those passages.
