Interview with Tim Gorichanaz

Published 2017-01-26.
What are you working on next?
I'm currently working on a novel about modern life in the city.
Who are your favorite authors?
In no particular order... Haruki Murakami, Vladimir Nabokov, JRR Tolkien, Don DeLillo, David Foster Wallace
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My to-do list! And also my cat begging to be fed.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I run ultramarathons, which means I run most days for at least an hour. I'm also working on my PhD, which amounts to a lot of reading and writing, outside of fiction.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first major story was a novel I started writing in 8th grade. It was very much influenced by Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. It was about a boy who discovers a curious artifact up in the attic that transports him to a mysterious world of fairies and demons. I abandoned the effort around 10,000 words. I still have it somewhere.
