Interview with Liam Leddy

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland U.K and still live there. I write sixties Glasgow crime fiction

In 2002
What's the story behind your latest book?
My third novel deals with the same dangerous characters first introduced in Body Language my first novel and expanded on in my second Bad Form
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I have a good command of language -Glaswegian street dialogue in particular- and an unshakeable belief in my ability
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
In all honesty I am dreadfully confused by the difficulty I have in your formatting system with the result my sales on Smashwords so far don`t match elsewhere
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The knowledge I have something to say and the ability to say it
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything
What are you working on next?

I use libraries. Always have and always will
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. It`s in one of my collections somewhere and gives the collection it`s title. Face Value
What is your writing process?
I suppose I don`t analyse it too much. I have an idea, write the opening sentence and stop writing when I believe it is not flowing properly
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I remember the main character not the name of the book. Nobody knew till the end the book whether he was good or bad. Fascinated me
How do you approach cover design?
I am a writer. I leave it to more artistic cover designers than me
What do you read for pleasure?
A sucker for short stories and crime fiction What I write really
