Interview with Tiffany Kennedy

Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite authors are Stephen King, John Saul, any author that writes believable horror fiction that really holds my attention but that is just a personal preference because my reading style is to read from beginning to end any book I read the first line of and the back of any and all cereal boxes.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The fact that I actually wake up breathing.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Working, I am fortunate to have my dream job. That means it involves writing because I am the feature writer for a local newspaper. I also read a lot and text people, maybe more than they appreciate. (I love texting).
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Usually my Facebook page offers me the stories I prefer or I search a category, read the blurb and go from there.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
What is your writing process?
Always by wondering "what if" in any situation. Then turning the most bizarre thing I can think of into sentences that a person would understand and be convinced by.
What do you read for pleasure?
Always horror fiction, just for pleasure.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Describe your desk
My desk is a monster that takes up the center of the room. It is of course wood, heavy and sturdy. My desk is actually my favorite piece of furniture and I have had the same one for years. It has several drawers and storing spaces for all the writing implements you can imagine. It is almost my best friend and knows and holds all my deepest, darkest secrets.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The fact that time is always short for loved ones, yourself and publishing.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Creating worlds from my perspective and showing those worlds to other people.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was raised by my parent's in many different places. Urban and rural settings but always with so much love and support by them that no matter where we were, as long as we were altogether it was always home.
When did you first start writing?
At the age of 10 years old. I was reading above my level and the reading the class room teachers thought was age appropriate seemed very simplistic to me and I thought, "I can do better than that".
What's the story behind your latest book?
It is an overwhelming response to a woman's search for love, defy loneliness and find sexual awakening by way of a personal's ad on Craigslist.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
By allowing anyone to be the author of their own life and not being put into a box of one and only one genre.
What do your fans mean to you?
They mean a lot whether they like my writing or not. I have a special place in my heart for those that praise and love my writing but I also have a place that loves the ones that offer constructive criticism because even a critical view usually means they spent some time reading work done by lil ole me.
What are you working on next?
That is hard to put into words as there are so many characters and ideas running around in my head at any given time. They all want to be written out into the world and I am never working on just one project, but several.
