Interview with Tracy Potter

When did you first start writing?
I started writing when I was younger and decided that I was going to try and publish my first book, which I started writing while pregnant with my daughter nineteen years ago. I wrote "Charlie the Chimp's Day Out" while pregnant with her and finally after much debating, humming and hawing, I decided to polish it up a bit and then published it here on smashwords.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing for me is that I get to share my vivid imagination with the rest of the world, or at least those who purchase the books and let them take a peek into what my life was like and how it is shaping up to be the best I can make it.
What are you working on next?
As I just posted the sequel to "Sex, Love and Lies in The Asylum," "Sex, Love, Lies and Deceit in the Asylum," I am going to work on the sequel to it and maybe take a break for a bit. I do know that the next one is going to be a little more relaxed than this one was. It will pick up where it left off with Kimberly, Master Steel, Master Silverman and Mina at the cabin.
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite authors are: Jean M. Auel, Stephen King, John Norman and Dean Koontz
What is your writing process?
I write from the heart and my imagination. I don't force things to to come to me because that is when writer's block can kick in and then I have a very hard time coming out of that.

I write whatever comes to mind when it comes to me and I don't bother trying to take it past where my mind can go.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Judy Blume's "Are you there God, It's me Margaret." I have always felt like a loner and when I read her book, I felt like I wasn't the only one going through the things I was going through and it helped me to realize that while there are bad things that happen, they happen to us for a reason.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Chronicles of Counter Earth by John Norman

Clan of the Cave Bears by Jean M Auel

Are you there God, It's me Margaret by Judy Blume

Master of Change, Choosing Mental and Emotional Wellness by Sean O'Donoghue Morgan

Any of the true life murder mystery books (Green River Killer, Zodiac Killer)

They fuel my imagination and help me to get some ideas on how to write good books.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I use Facebook, Twitter and a couple of adult fetish sites.
What do your fans mean to you?
Without my fans, I don't have anyone to read my books and without my readers, my books would be a flop.

I want to thank all my fans for reading my books, their feedback and help with making the books better.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When I'm not writing, I love to get out of the house for walks, ride my bike, bake, cook, watch tv, play games and spend time with friends.
