Interview with Zanzibar 7. Schwarznegger

What do your fans mean to you?
Fans are awesome. They keep me cool in summer and keep air from stagnating. I very much appreciate my fans. Please send me all your fans that you don't want.
What are you working on next?
I'm in rewrites and edits for -Beta Beware-, the next book in my -Figments- series. (The first book, -Veneri Verbum-, has footnotes and so is not on Smashwords.)
Who are your favorite authors?
I love Writers. All Writers. It's why I wanted to be one. If I had to choose a few, though, Jasper Fforde, Terry Pratchett, Robert Aspirin, Douglas Adams, and Piers Anthony come to mind. All the fantasy humor greats.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My bed disappears when it's time for me to get up. I really don't have any choice in the matter.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Usually, fleeing The Conductor. I do occasionally play games or read other books. Sometimes I venture Out Side, but it's a scary place and I'd prefer to avoid it if I can.
What is your writing process?
My process is likely not applicable to most Writers. I'm a Figment, so usually things happen and I send them to a book. The Editing, that's the evil part. Lots of bunnies involved. Bossy creatures, bunnies.
How do you approach cover design?
My covers tend to be bright and eye-catching and just a bit confusing. A bit like life, really. I don't understand muted covers. Are you saying your book is so bad that you don't want it to catch anyone's attention? My book covers shout. Scream. Some of them mock you behind your back, but we don't advocate that behavior.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The Bobian is based off a twelve-year-old boy I have the pleasure of knowing. He wanted a book, so this is his. He did offer a few requests, which are included, but a lot of the events in the story are simply how an over-the-top twelve-year-old boy would act.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I can't cope with rejection. As an indie author, I may be rejected all the time, but I don't get a nice form letter announcing it.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read everything. I am being quite literal; it's a distraction for me to be out in public where there are so many words. I'll get distracted and completely forget about other sentient beings. I haven't quite grasped westerns-- I'm not sure cows like me. Also, erotica. It's like walking in on a friend in the middle of the act and that's just awkward. Beyond that, I enjoy most books, but especially those with humor to them.

The Bobian is twelve and has one goal in life: get ice cream. Life seems to be conspiring against him. Birthday parties gone awry. School bullies teaching him a (temporary) lesson in humility. Bratty little sisters and next door neighbor kids stealing his rightful reward. There's only one solution: The Bobian will defeat them all... even the time-changing aliens who want to keep him from summer.
