My latest book, which is my first book (chuckle), is based on some real life experiences that I dealt with growing up. I decided to take those bad experiences and turn them into motivational or life lesson quotes in which people that have gone through situations similar, could apply a solution to those specific issues.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I felt like I had a story to tell. Going the traditional route, through infamous publishing companies is a lengthy process. I decided to step out on faith and get my story out my way.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
At the moment this is my first book, and I have not been exposed much yet. I know that will change. Smashwords allows for my content to go out to all the most common/popular eBook corporations across the country.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Simply put, writing is therapeutic. I can get anything that I am holding within through my words in a more concrete manner. My greatest joy comes from being able to empower others through my words.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean EVERYTHING to me. They hear the words I am voicing, and can relate and understand there purpose.
What are you working on next?
My next project is a relationship book. I am super excited about it. I am more than positive, that it will help a lot of people both single or married.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The fact that I have to fulfill God's purpose for my life. I know my children are also watching me, and for that matter alone, I have to do my best to stay motivated. The fact that I wake up means that I need to keep on working, and I can't give up even when I feel like quitting.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Spending quality time with my family! I also work in healthcare as well as teach at a community college. I love going to church and spending quality time in GOD's word.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Mainly by categories that I am searching for that day.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Honestly, I can't remember. I believe it was a paper for one of my graduate degree classes. Could have been sooner.
What is your writing process?
Rough draft, rough draft, rough draft!! I will have something come to my mind and I have to write it down as soon as possible or I will forget it. I have notes on notebook paper, my computer, and phone. Somehow, in the final product, I am able to bring them all together for a decent story.
How do you approach cover design?
Through the topic. It is important to me that when people see the cover, they can determine what the story is about.
When did you first start writing?
Since I was able to pick up a pencil and paper to bring any idea to life (grade school).
