Interview with David Kingsley Evans

What do you read for pleasure?
Either science fiction or science fantasy books.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Facebook, twitter, Book Viral, and word of mouth.
Describe your desk
Messy, lots of papers and one computer.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
South Wales, UK. In the end I would have become a writer no matter where I lived.
When did you first start writing?
I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I felt physically disabled and psychologically crushed. Luckily I was able to connect with people who had not let the illness control their lives. I have always enjoyed reading science fiction epics. I decided it was my turn to write in the genre I loved. Through my writing I have been able to forget my problems and discover a whole new reality. I truly hope others enjoy my work!
What's the story behind your latest book?
Intriguing characters band together against the coming of evil. Two of the most ferocious species imaginable violently clash. The sci-fi story is dark, multi-layered, and in parts waggish. The chronicle climaxes in a series of epic space battles; worlds are destroyed and entire species are brought to the brink of extinction.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I always loved writing. Suddenly I had the opportunity.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I have not published through Smashwords yet. I plan to change that situation very soon.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I have the opportunity to create worlds. I can use words to weave dreams.
What do your fans mean to you?
I do not think of my readers as fans but they mean everything. A good reader review is worth its weight in gold.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I like reading and I'm a keen photographer but most of all I love to travel. My mobility is limited but I still manage to get about. I enjoy visiting new places and re-visiting special places.
