Interview with Vernon Coxwell

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Pine Hills! In those days, it was great. There were fishing ponds everywhere and Orange groves covered the landscape. Today Central Florida is one big parking lot. I remain inspired by my friends of youth. Their continued challenges are reflected in Megan's final chapter.
When did you first start writing?
Early. But, using other names. Poetry. Short stories. Not claiming by name. How, cowardly is that? Today, I have a story.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Friends! They are all friends. The characters are not particular individuals. The four main characters are a gathering of human spirits. Kind of a cocktail of your favorite friends. Yet, blended slightly different than they landed.
This is a story about how friendships are created. How people become important to each other. How lives are connected, sacred, and saved by each other. It is a simple story about life.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Girl asked me for a story.
What are you working on next?
A contemporary crime drama
Who are your favorite authors?
Sherman Alexie, Hemingway, Tolkien, Louis L'Amour
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I prefer a good hard back book. I enjoy the comfortable feel of traditional books. But, I despise publishers. They have an air of self righteous indignation about them, akin to plantation ownership. Ebooks are a tool of rebellion against a skewed reality.
