Interview with Vegastarchild584
What's the story behind your latest book?
It’s a novel that came to me to encourage and wake up starseeds everywhere after I caught wind of young and talented actor/singer/model/deep thinker Zhang Zhehan who was blacklisted in China for something we in the US would consider innocent and ignore. As I delved more into the issue I saw how it greatly impacted the young man involved as well as all his fans around the world as well as his costar Simon Gong Jun. And I thought what if Zhang’s earth mission is to go through this but also to overcome and rise above it as a starseed? How different would the outcome be?
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I’ve always been a writer and a few years ago decided to share my novels with the world. I feel it’s important to shine your light so that others can also find their way. You never know if because of something you did, you inspired or even opened the door for another.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It’s allowed my writing to be made accessible to others in a very streamlined way.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
When the material just flows from me. I love getting downloads and being in the “zone”. I believe other creative people know what I am talking about when I say this. There is no other feeling in the world like it.
What do your fans mean to you?
I appreciate people who vibe with me and also learn from those who may not. It encourages me to continue writing and creating and becoming more of myself.
What are you working on next?
I am currently collaborating with a couple of people including an amazing Japanese artist on a new project. I am also doing some short story videos and chapter reads for SM, as well as writing sequels to my books. Lots going on!
Who are your favorite authors?
Gordon Merrick, Sheldon Nidle, Barbara Marciniak, Dr. Suzanne Lie, Dr. Meir Schneider.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I stay busy so idling too long makes me antsy. I also enjoy writing and creating as well as occasionally zoning out. It’s where a lot of my inspiration comes from.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I wrote was a BL story when I was 12. I didn’t know the genre was considered BL, just that it was about two high schoolers who were boys who loved each other. Maybe they were soul mates? It was just about their daily lives and their encounters and struggles given the social constraints we still face.
What is your writing process?
I just write whenever I feel inspired or an idea pops into my head. Then whatever flows I just write. I use journals and write by hand or even the Note App on my IPhoneMax. In fact I wrote my latest book using the app alone. I never was one to follow strict writing procedures. I do that enough in my day job as a lawyer. Writing is a creative process of flow. You can’t force it so I never bother trying.
