Well, I have a lot more than five favorite books, but if I had to chose, my answer would be (in no particular order): 1) The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, because firstly he is my favorite author, and secondly this book is extremely powerful. 2) Requiem by Lauren Oliver, because it is such a sad story, showing that our lives will always be unfair. 3) Rapture, it was an explosive end to the Fallen Series, reducing me to almost tears. 4) Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi because it is beautiful and sad and wonderful and horrible and just... 5) Hush, Hush, because Patch is so cool and awesome and it's so clever and unexpected!
Can I sneak a sixth in? 6) The Maze Runner by James Dashner, because I love the series and it is really clever and I love Newt.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My phone because I can read ANYTHING on it, although I love my kindle like it is family!
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Shout outs in return for shout outs works for me at the moment!
Describe your desk
It's covered in books and lots of screwed up first drafts, it also has an amazing amount of tissues. I believe that I am allergic to my brothers.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
My past is complicated, I lived in many places at the same time. This influences my writing because I can put real anger into my text. That probably did not make any sense to you. Oh well.
When did you first start writing?
What? Like writing books or writing my name?
Just kidding! I wrote my first book at 5 years. My mum has it in a box. My handwriting was appalling, not to mention the lack of adjectives, here's my favorite sentence from it:
'Mummy said com down.'
Look how dumb I was!!!
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest latest book is The Fallen. I feel that people misunderstand goths, they think they are all depressed and lonely and they all like vampires. They dress in black and obsess over weird things. WRONG! I am writing my next book about this.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. Although I don't have many at the moment, each one means a lot to me. I hope that they understand that I run on my fans, they give me the will to write more. I love you guys!
What are you working on next?
That's for me to know, and you to find out. Watch me go, you will love the next story I write!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Food is my life, and yours two, but I cannot function without snacking regularly. I often get high on cheese as well, especially Red Leicester
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing helps me channel my emotions. I often get overwhelmed, so I channel it into my stories, for example if you read a particularly gruesome scene it is because I am angry about something. Or if I am feeling evil, you will find that I will leave you on a cliffie ;).
