Interview with Victor Enrique

Published 2017-10-08.
What's the story behind your latest book?
As always, I follow the path of the Human Condition in my books. In my latest book, I explore such conditions with few words that create images to a particular situation to create a reaction in the reader.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
As an indie author, the usual edition, and sometimes re-creation of a different book, is avoided when big publisher houses publish my book. This provides me with the control of my book. It gives me a better freedom in expressing the ideas and motifs of my books without having to comfort to a particular stream-like-writing type of writing. The genre is there; what is not there is the heavily censorship.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has let me be, well, me. Whether I sell, or not, Smashwords is always there, letting me publishing to my content. In other places, you are measured by the amount of book sold and the current writing fashion.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing, to me, constitute a self-diagnosis of all that I am and all that I could be. Through writing, I explore other perspectives, glimpsing at the same pot-hole window called Life.
What do your fans mean to you?
If I have any, fans are reflections of myself as I am a reflection to their selves, searching for a place to meditate and see how far, or close, everyone is to anyone. This means that we—as I am also a fan to other writers—provide a sense of gauge to see if we—the writers—are on the path we have chosen to walk. Consequently, we all must love them.
What are you working on next?
I am working on a novella that explores the Human Condition of mortality. It also sightsees the old human debate of nature versus nurtures.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I am always observing my surroundings to understand—a little bit more—the aesthetics of our existence. I am always lurking, waiting in ambush for my next writing project.
