Interview with Vinay Jalla

In a few sentences describe your latest novel 'Warp and Weft'
God made man
Man made money
Money made man mad
The opening line of your novel 'Warp and Weft'...
It was Monday or Thursday or Friday.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Seeing my words in print.
What do your fans mean to you?
Friends for life.
Who are your favorite authors?
R K Narayan, Thomas Hardy, Agatha Christie to name a few.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
To experience the world of unexplored possibilities.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Painting, cooking and a bit of gardening.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
When I was in primary school I wrote a story about an elephant - all I described was the big ears and the long trunk!
What is your writing process?
To concentrate on writing my novel 'Warp and Weft', I would sit in the city’s public library and write about 1000 words a day on one-sided sheets of paper. Writing a novel, I tell you, can sometimes become a lonely experience – it’s just the writer and his characters for company. Some days I would saunter across to another library for a change of scene or sit on the grass in the park and write, while the pigeons flew around cheerfully.
What do you read for pleasure?
Old newspapers - as I'm not instantly affected by the negativity that's in there.
What are you working on next?
Not sure...Yes, the title of my next book is 'Unsure'.
