Interview with Virginia Wright

Published 2015-07-14.
How do you approach cover design?
In creating a cover, I try to make it relevant to book content. In the case of my non-fiction book, Buzzzzzzzz What Honeybees Do, putting a honeybee on the cover was the most logical approach due to the content.
What do you read for pleasure?
Because I aspire to write a romance novel, I love, love, love reading romance novels.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle is my e-reading device of choice. I have Kindle for PC and so when I am not on the go, I read my e-books on my computer.
Describe your desk
Laughing out loud...my desk is "my lap." While I have had a computer desk and workstation for years, I end up carrying my laptop computer with me wherever I go and plop it in my lap to work. I not only write my books, I illustrate, and it is easier for me to have my hands at lap level to work.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Belfast, Maine was where I grew up. The Belfast Free Library was right down the street from where I lived and I spent hours going to the library checking out books. I used to be amazed at all the writings within the covers of the books, this could have had some bearing on my writing or wanting to write.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing when just a young girl...writing first in a diary with lock and key, then a journal, then notebooks, and what later became a cedar chest full of writings. :-)
