Interview with Virtue Slaughter

Published 2018-10-05.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in an area that wasn't open to the 'wilder' themes in life. That's probably why I am so open to trying just about everything and am accepting of all tastes people have in the bedroom. I'm not here to judge just help people enjoy the things that they enjoy!
When did you first start writing?
From a young age as many writers do. I'm always writing. I will say this genre was of course something that I only got into when I got older.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Self-expression and let's be real, a lady has got to pay her bills and living isn't getting any cheaper!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Each day is a new adventure if I stay in bed I miss out on that adventure!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Traveling and dreaming. I'm definitely a dreamer.
What is your writing process?
I write anywhere and everywhere. On the bus, in the car (when I'm not driving!), on planes, at the kitchen counter... You get the picture. Anytime an idea strikes I get to writing. Most of the time that means I am writing on my phone.
I have quite a few stories started at any one time and I bounce between them as inspiration strikes. When I finish one it gets published. Previously I've tried schedules but I don't do well with those. I do try to publish at least twice monthly to keep myself consistent.
How do you approach cover design?
I like things simple. The more covers I can create in a quick period of time the more time I have to focus on my writing. That means that not everything I put out fits the market but it's a sacrifice I decided to make that many professional writers would probably frown upon.
Describe your desk.
My desk is wherever I am! I actually don't have a desk at home. Sometimes it's the kitchen table but that's the closer thing to a desk that I have.
What are your books about?
I write taboo erotic shorts.
Why are your books so short?
I write short shorts because as a reader this isn't about a time-investment this is about a bite-sized experience.
